We cut the reins in pairs, hand edge, hand rub, oil and hand rub them again for a great feel before they’re shipped to you. Latigo on Latigo 5/8″ Reins, Medium Weight #BLL1
$145.00Description: Dennis cuts these doubled and stitched reins 5/8” wide. He makes them in two lengths: 7′ for horses under 14.2 hands and 7’9” for horses over 14.2 (see dropdown for choices). These Latigo on Latigo 5/8″ medium weight reins have very good feel and body.
To make these reins Dennis sews 2 pieces of latigo leather together with small, tight stitches. This makes the reins 9/32nd of an inch thick. All of the work is done by hand. He edges these reins by hand, rubs them, oils them and rubs them again.
How they work: This is Dennis’ 50th year making cowboy tack and he knows which leather makes the best reins. He personally chooses each hide he uses to make sure you’ll have good even contact and communication with your horse. There are no gray signals with these reins.
These are our best selling doubled and stitched reins and are a favorite in the show ring. They will hold their flexibility and shape even in cold weather and they are built to last.

Latigo on Latigo 1/2″ Reins, Medium Weight #BLL4
$145.00Description: If you’ve got smaller hands and are looking for a double and stitched rein with body and drape but not too much bulk these are a good pick. In your choice of 7 feet or 7 feet 9 inches long, these Medium Weight Latigo on Latigo 1/2 Inch Reins are our best selling double & stitched reins for ladies and youth with small hands. The 7′ length works for those who are training the smaller cutting & cow horse colts and for disciplines like ranch sorting where horses are shown gathered up through continuous quick turns. Choose the length you prefer in the dropdown.
These are made of medium weight leather that’s approximately 18 oz. making the reins 9/32nd of an inch thick after they’re stitched together. These reins are edged by hand, rubbed, oiled and rubbed again. This extra hand work adds to their great feel. Every detail we put in their production coupled with the fact we buy only the highest quality hides to make our reins gives you that good even contact with your horses face you’re looking for.
