Description: The bit has “Buster Welch” style 6 1/2 inch shanks made of high quality 4130 grade steel and overlaid with beautiful hand engraved nickel silver. Four mouthpieces are available (see pictures). All mouthpieces are 5 1/8 inch wide, are made of steel or steel and copper, have inlaid copper strips to promote salivation, and are made in the diameters listed in pictures and dropdown. The bit comes with the #BH51 3/8 inch Latigo Leather Bit Hobble as shown.
How it works: The angle of this shank allows time for the horse to respond to the reins being adjusted (pulled) before the mouthpiece contacts the sides of the mouth, tongue and roof of the mouth and the curb strap makes contact with the chin or vice-versa when the reins are released. This truly is a great little shank! Almost all horses respond to this shank with confidence and contentment. This is a favorite with professional horsemen.

Offset D Ring Snaffle Bit #19
$150.00Description: The D rings on this Offset D Ring Snaffle Bit are made of 1/4 inch steel and are 2 1/4 inches in diameter. Mouthpiece #9 is 3/8 inch in diameter and 5 1/8th inches wide with inlaid copper bars to promote salivation. Mouthpiece #42 is 3/16 inch in diameter and 5 /8 inches wide with a gentle twist.

Double Buckle Curb Strap with Rawhide #CU41
$72.00Description: The Double Buckle Curb Strap with Rawhide #CU41 is made of single ply 5/8 inch harness leather that is hand-edged, hand-rubbed, treated with Neatsfoot Oil and hand-rubbed again. Beautiful hand braided rawhide keepers and flat rawhide braid at the chin are added to complete the look. The buckles are stainless steel. The leather beneath the buckles is sewn together to prevent the buckles from slipping during adjustments.
How it works: The braided rawhide at the chin gives a quicker signal than a leather curb. It comes in contact with the chin slightly before the leather. The braided rawhide also gives a stronger signal than plain leather because of it’s texture. This curb may be really helpful on a horse that isn’t responding to the pull on the reins as well as it should with a leather curb. This curb gives a stronger, quicker signal than a leather curb but not as strong as the Double Buckle Curb Strap with Rawhide Ball #CU42.

The mouthpiece is 5 1/8 inches wide, slightly bowed and has inlaid copper strips to increase salivation. It is 3/8th inch in diameter at the corners of the mouth and gradually tapers to 1/4 inch in the center.
How it works: When each rein is pulled the eggbutt snaffle bit will give a clearer signal than a ring snaffle because there is a larger area of contact on the corner of the mouth and contact on the opposite side of the face. This helps the colt to bring his whole face through the turn rather than just his nose. This bit is NRCHA & AQHA legal.
This is my favorite snaffle and I use it on almost all my young horses. Dennis
