Description: This Texas Style Five Plait Nylon Hackamore Rein #CHR2 is made of very tightly braided, 1/4 inch, solid braid nylon rope. It’s 16 feet long with ring knots at each end. This rope has been heavily waxed to give it more body and stiffness. This is the ideal rein for the horseman who wants a thicker rein in his or her hand with virtually no stretch.

In your choice of 7 feet or 7 feet 9 inches long, these Medium Weight Latigo on Latigo 1/2 Inch Reins are our best selling double & stitched reins for ladies and youth with small hands. Because they are light, but drape so well when a horse is shown on a really loose rein, these are also a favorite with reiners. We make the 7’9″ length for average size horses. The 7′ length works for those who are training the smaller cutting & cow horse colts and for disciplines like ranch sorting where horses are shown gathered up through continuous quick turns. These are made of medium weight leather that’s approximately 18 oz. making the reins 9/32nd of an inch thick after they’re stitched together. Latigo Roping Rein with Rawhide Knots #RR23
$135.00Description: This Latigo Roping Rein with Rawhide Knots #RR23 is built with hand braided rawhide knots on each end for easy and quick change-outs between bridles. The end of each rein has a slot that slides over the rawhide knot to attach the rein to the bit. The rawhide and the latigo tassels look great on the ends of this rein!
This rein is 5/8 inch wide and 7 1/2 feet long. The latigo has been hand edged, hand rubbed, oiled with Neatsfoot Oil and hand rubbed again for that great feel in your hands. The slots and rawhide knots allow you to change this rein in a snap and they hold the rein securely after they’re attached.

Leather Romal Reins with Rawhide Buttons #CCR2
$799.00Description: The Leather Romal is made of doubled and stitched 5/8 inch latigo and the Leather Reins are made of doubled and stitched 1/2 inch latigo. The beautiful rawhide buttons and barrel knots on the reins and romal are all braided by hand. The popper is hand stamped double and stitched skirting leather. The reins and romal are connected with an 1/2 inch latigo strap with rawhide balls and loops and the reins have stainless steel swivel snaps. The romal and reins are each 48 inches long and connectors are 12 inches for a total of 108 inches. If you want to use rein chains and need a shorter rein let me know and I’ll make them just the way you want them. These Leather Romal Reins with Rawhide Buttons (also known as Romel Reins) are being used by professionals. This is a great alternative to the higher priced rawhide romals and are perfect for every day and for show!

Crafting: To make double and stitched romals and reins I take 2 pieces of latigo and split them to the correct thicknesses. Next I glue the 2 pieces together and carefully cut the desired lengths. Finally they’re stitched together. Once the leather is stitched the rawhide buttons are braided on the romal and on the reins.
Double and stitched leather is more durable and longer lasting than single ply leather but is not thicker than single ply leather. These romal reins will have that good feel in your hands. All of the rawhide at Dennis Moreland Tack is produced entirely by hand from start to finish before being braided.
Your rawhide should be conditioned regularly with #ZK Vaquero Rawhide Cream.
