Description: This is a medium weight doubled and stitched rein with great feel and body. Dennis cuts this 1/2″ Latigo on Latigo Loop Rein 8 to 8 1/2 feet long. All of the work to make this rein is done by hand. They are edged, rubbed, oiled and rubbed again by hand.
This loop rein makes a great training rein and is a great rein for roping.

Leather Romal Reins with Rawhide Buttons #CCR2
$799.00Description: The Leather Romal is made of doubled and stitched 5/8 inch latigo and the Leather Reins are made of doubled and stitched 1/2 inch latigo. The beautiful rawhide buttons and barrel knots on the reins and romal are all braided by hand. The popper is hand stamped double and stitched skirting leather. Crafting: To make double and stitched romals and reins I take 2 pieces of latigo and split them to the correct thicknesses. Next I glue the 2 pieces together and carefully cut the desired lengths. Finally they’re stitched together. Once the leather is stitched the rawhide buttons are braided on the romal and on the reins.
Double and stitched leather is more durable and longer lasting than single ply leather but is not thicker than single ply leather. These romal reins will have that good feel in your hands. All of the rawhide at Dennis Moreland Tack is produced entirely by hand from start to finish before being braided.
Your rawhide should be conditioned regularly with #ZK Vaquero Rawhide Cream.

5/8″ Latigo on Latigo Reins, Heavy Weight #BLL2
$149.00Description: Dennis worked closely with the same tannery for years to find a thicker hide just for these 5/8″ Latigo on Latigo Heavy Weight Reins #BLL2. Two pieces of heavy latigo (total of 24 oz.) are tightly stitched together to make this rein 3/8” thick. They’re cut 5/8” wide and either 7′ or 7′ 9″ long (see dropdown for length choices). The 7′ length works well for training the smaller cutting & cow horse colts and for ranch sorters who keep their horses really gathered up through continuous quick turns. The 7’9″ length is a great rein for horses that are 14.2 hands or taller and for riders who want a lot of drape in their reins.
These are a very heavy rein that allows for superb contact with a horse’s face. Dennis’ heavy weight latigo on latigo double & stitched reins are more pliable than the harness leather on latigo reins #BLH58 but they aren’t too heavy or stiff. If properly cared for, they will last for years. Like all of Dennis’ reins, they are hand edged and rubbed. $149.00Description: If you’re looking for a very heavy rein with a lot of feel then this harness on latigo double and stitched rein is for you.
Custom cut from harness leather and lined with latigo leather, these reins are 5/8” wide and 7’9” long. The stitching is compressed tightly into the leather. As with all of Dennis’ reins, these are hand edged, rubbed with saddle soap, oiled and saddle soaped again to give the leather a tremendous feel in your hands. Trainers tell us they love these reins for their weight and feel. They will last for years.

How they work: Use these Reins Stops to prevent the rings on a martingale from getting hung up on the ends of your bit or on the bridle rein ends. This is a very good safety tool for very little investment. Sold by the pair.

1/2″ 6 Strand Mane-Hair Mecate #DK3
$265.00Description: To make this 1/2 inch mecate, six strands of mane-hair are firmly twisted on a horse hair core to 1/2 inch. This mecate, sometimes called a McCarty, is 22 feet long and used on both hackamores and snaffle bits. This 1/2″ 6 Strand Mane-Hair Mecate #DK3 will meet the requirements of even the most discriminating reinsman.
We will be happy to tie this mecate to a bosal if you purchase one but you may need to adjust the number of wraps to fit your horse after you receive it.
