5/8″ X Harness Leather Split Reins #ASR4

Description: Not everyone likes heavier reins so we cut these X reins out of lighter-weight hides. These reins average 7 to 7 1/2 feet long and are 5/8 inch wide. The attention to detail is still here, just offered in a lighter-weight version. They are ideal for ranchers who want to ride with a lighter rein than the XX. During the winter, these reins will stay supple when you’re checking cows in the cold.
Crafting: These are cut in pairs from only the best hides. They’re hand edged, hand rubbed, oiled and hand rubbed again for a great feel before they’re shipped to you. This tight fibered harness leather will last for years of hard use. If you have questions please feel free to call 832-529-9226 and we will “talk reins”.

Crafting: To make double and stitched romals and reins I take 2 pieces of latigo and split them to the correct thicknesses. Next I glue the 2 pieces together and carefully cut the desired lengths. Finally they’re stitched together. Once the leather is stitched the rawhide buttons are braided on the romal and on the reins.
Double and stitched leather is more durable and longer lasting than single ply leather but is not thicker than single ply leather. These romal reins will have that good feel in your hands. All of the rawhide at Dennis Moreland Tack is produced entirely by hand from start to finish before being braided.
Your rawhide should be conditioned regularly with #ZK Vaquero Rawhide Cream.

5/8″ Latigo on Latigo Reins, Medium Weight #BLL1
$149.00Description: Dennis cuts these doubled and stitched reins 5/8” wide. He makes them in two lengths: 7′ for horses under 14.2 hands and 7’9” for horses over 14.2 (see dropdown for choices). These 5/8″ Latigo on Latigo Reins, Medium Weight have very good feel and body.
