Description: If you’re looking for a very heavy rein with a lot of feel then this harness on latigo double and stitched rein is for you.
Custom cut from harness leather and lined with latigo leather, these reins are 5/8” wide and 7’9” long. The stitching is compressed tightly into the leather. As with all of Dennis’ reins, these are hand edged, rubbed with saddle soap, oiled and saddle soaped again to give the leather a tremendous feel in your hands. Trainers tell us they love these reins for their weight and feel. They will last for years.

Leather Romal Reins with Rawhide Buttons #CCR2
$799.00Description: The Leather Romal is made of doubled and stitched 5/8 inch latigo and the Leather Reins are made of doubled and stitched 1/2 inch latigo. The beautiful rawhide buttons and barrel knots on the reins and romal are all braided by hand. The popper is hand stamped double and stitched skirting leather. The reins and romal are connected with an 1/2 inch latigo strap with rawhide balls and loops and the reins have stainless steel swivel snaps. Crafting: To make double and stitched romals and reins I take 2 pieces of latigo and split them to the correct thicknesses. Next I glue the 2 pieces together and carefully cut the desired lengths. Finally they’re stitched together. Once the leather is stitched the rawhide buttons are braided on the romal and on the reins.
Double and stitched leather is more durable and longer lasting than single ply leather but is not thicker than single ply leather. These romal reins will have that good feel in your hands. All of the rawhide at Dennis Moreland Tack is produced entirely by hand from start to finish before being braided.
Your rawhide should be conditioned regularly with #ZK Vaquero Rawhide Cream.

$10.00Description: The Rein Stops are made of harness leather and measure 2 inches in diameter. They will fit any of the leather reins made at Dennis Moreland Tack. Reins Stops are made to go on the bit end of your reins and should be put on at the bit end.
How they work: Use these Reins Stops to prevent the rings on a martingale from getting hung up on the ends of your bit or on the bridle rein ends. This is a very good safety tool for very little investment. Sold by the pair.

1/2″ 6 Strand Mane-Hair Mecate #DK3
$265.00Description: To make this 1/2 inch mecate, six strands of mane-hair are firmly twisted on a horse hair core to 1/2 inch. This mecate, sometimes called a McCarty, is 22 feet long and used on both hackamores and snaffle bits. This 1/2″ 6 Strand Mane-Hair Mecate #DK3 will meet the requirements of even the most discriminating reinsman.
We will be happy to tie this mecate to a bosal if you purchase one but you may need to adjust the number of wraps to fit your horse after you receive it. In your choice of 7 feet or 7 feet 9 inches long, these Medium Weight Latigo on Latigo 1/2 Inch Reins are our best selling double & stitched reins for ladies and youth with small hands. Because they are light, but drape so well when a horse is shown on a really loose rein, these are also a favorite with reiners. We make the 7’9″ length for average size horses. The 7′ length works for those who are training the smaller cutting & cow horse colts and for disciplines like ranch sorting where horses are shown gathered up through continuous quick turns. These are made of medium weight leather that’s approximately 18 oz. making the reins 9/32nd of an inch thick after they’re stitched together.
