At 5 inches in width between the hanger buttons this bosal is available in 10, 11 & 12 inch lengths from top to bottom (see picture for a guide to sizing). General recommendations for bosal length: the 10 inch bosal will fit a horse with a small muzzle, usually those 14.2 hands and under that weigh 900 lbs. or less. The 11 inch bosal will fit a medium size muzzle and will fit the majority of horses. The 12 inch bosal is made to fit a larger horse, generally those horses 15.2 hands and over that weigh 1250 lbs. or more, but is dependent on muzzle size. Call to see if we currently have the size you need available.
Heel knot: The heel knots on all Dennis Moreland Tack Bosals are heavy to give instant release when the pressure on the mecate is released. A special addition to all Dennis Moreland Bosals is the spacer inside the heel knot, between the cores, which gives the mecate space to lay correctly. This is a very nice improvement over bosals with no spacer.
Hanger: This bosal comes with a handmade 3/8 inch Latigo California Style Hanger. The hanger is hand edged, rubbed, and waxed.
Mecates: You may buy the bosal without a mecate or with one of 3 mecate options: the DMR5 Nylon Mecate or the #DK3 or #DK5 Mane Hair Mecates (select in the dropdown above).
#DMR5 Mecate: The #DMR5 mecate is made of round 5/8 inch brown braid on braid or tri-color nylon rope with a tassel at one end and a 5/8 inch leather popper at the opposite end. It is 22 feet long. For more info click #DMR5 Round 5/8 inch Nylon Mecate.
#DK3 and #DK5 Mecates: These Mecates are made of six strands of horse mane hair. They have been firmly twisted by hand on a horse hair core to 1/2 inch (#DK3) or 5/8 inch (#DK5). They will meet the requirements of refined feel for even the most discriminating horseman or horsewoman. Either mecate is 22 feet long. There are various colors available including sorrels, greys, blacks and whites. Please call for color availability. If we don’t hear from you we will choose the color. DM Round Buckle Straight Cinch #20CSR
$98.00Description: These hand-tied premium-grade cinches are made of 31 strands of Mohair-blend cinch cord. Most cinches or girths have 27 strands of cord or less. The extra strands allow the pressure to be spread further and also feel better to the horse. It’s just a more comfortable cinch. The buckles are made from round stainless steel rod and are 5/16 inch x 2 5/8 inches. These cinches come with a nylon web center strap with 1 inch stainless steel Dees and a nylon web keeper for the double off tails on the right side. Round ring cinches come in a variety of sizes to fit every horse (see dropdown).
How it works: This 31 strand cinch will not curl or stretch and will last for years. The carefully crafted buckles are designed to always pull straight to prevent galling. The round rings fit well on any horse but are particularly good on small and young horses. The round shape prevents a small horse from being rubbed behind the elbow by the edge of the buckle. Watch the video and read the blog: How to Measure for Cinch Length to make sure you get a cinch that fits.
Dennis Moreland Cinches have been the top choice of professional horsemen for fifty years.

Chuck Frasier Sidepull #CP40
$271.00Description: The noseband on this sidepull is crafted from firm 3/8″ nylon rope, which is specially designed to ensure it lays correctly from the first ride. The headstall is made of single ply 3/4″ tight-fibered harness leather with a 5/8″ throat latch. This sidepull comes with slot conchos which are the safest and most secure conchos available. You can see the photos on the left for instructions on slot concho removal and application. The buckles on this Chuck Frasier Sidepull #CP40 are stainless steel with the leather below the buckles stitched to keep them in place.
How it works:
Since this sidepull is considered a bitless bridle, it is designed for use on the adult horse and is a great tool to avoid putting pressure on the horse’s mouth while maintaining plenty of control. With the design of this sidepull, the stainless-steel shanks come against the opposite side of the horse’s face with a direct rein pull so the horse starts his turns without leaning. Put your leg on him once the turn is started to teach him to complete the turn without leaning. The noseband in combination with the dog chain curb provides a strong signal to stop.Watch the video “The Secret to using the Chuck Frasier Sidepull” to learn more.
Shown with ASR3 XX Harness Leather Split Reins.

Latigo Slot Ear Headstall #HS27
$92.00Description: This beautiful Latigo Slot Ear Headstall is made of 5/8 inch doubled and stitched burgundy latigo leather. It’s excellent leather and will last for years. I buy this premium latigo because it’s very dense, fine grained leather which makes it strong but flexible. It will feel great against your horse’s face. The roller buckle is beveled stainless steel. The leather beneath the buckle is handsewn together to keep the buckle from slipping. The keeper is made of hand braided rawhide and adds a nice accent to this headstall. If you’re on a budget this high quality handmade headstall will put you at the professional level while staying on budget! It will match any of my doubled and stitched reins.
How it works: The short cheek piece on this headstall keeps the buckle away from the horse’s eye. The slot ear is sized right to fit small and large horses. This is such a nice easy headstall to slip on your horse and be on your way.
Crafting: To make a doubled and stitched latigo headstall I take 2 pieces of burgundy latigo and split them to the correct thicknesses. Next I glue the 2 pieces and carefully cut the desired shapes. Then it’s stitched together and edged, hand-rubbed, treated with Neatsfoot Oil and hand-rubbed again. Doubled and stitched leather is more durable and longer lasting than single ply leather and also has a nice eye-catching appearance. The doubled & stitched items are not thicker than single ply leather so still have that good feel in your hands and on the horse.
The headstall has teardrop bit ends with your choice of slot conchos, tie ends, or conchos (see dropdown).

Easy Stop #ES1
$229.00Description: The Easy Stop #ES1 is a very good piece of tack to use when you want to teach your horse to stop correctly when cued, without having to put pressure on the mouth. Often a horse will show a lot of improvement in it’s stop with just a few rides in the Easy Stop.
The noseband is made of 3/8 inch nylon rope that is specially designed to lay right from the first ride. The headstall is made of 3/4 inch dense, tight-fibered harness leather. The leather has been edged, hand-rubbed, oiled with Neatsfoot Oil and hand-rubbed again. The buckles are stainless steel and the leather beneath the buckles is hand stitched together to prevent the buckles from sliding down as you’re adjusting the headstall. This Easy Stop includes a hand-tied tan 1/4 inch nylon fiador tied to the top of the spoon so it won’t interfere with the reins.
Choice of Reins: Almost any of the reins we make will work well. If you don’t see what you need here, please see the rein category These reins can be purchased separately.
How it works: The Easy Stop noseband will apply pressure on the nose just like a hackamore or bosal. Additionally, the stainless steel Easy Stop spoon will come forward as the reins are pulled and make contact with the horse’s chin, in the space between the 2 jawbones (the intermandibular space). I carefully designed the angle of the Easy Stop spoon to function correctly and lay close enough to the horse’s intermandibular space that it doesn’t apply pressure until the reins are pulled. The edges of the spoon are smooth and have a gentle bevel so there’s nothing sharp touching your horse. This Easy Stop is designed so the spoon doesn’t flip over when there’s not any pressure on the reins.
This is used by top professional cutting, cow horse, reining and barrel horse trainers, among others, and will last through years of use. This is a real good tool to have in your tack room for those times when a horse is not responding as soon as he is being asked to stop. Your horse should be broke to give at the poll and should be flexible both laterally and longitudinally before being ridden with an easy stop.
Shown on the horse with the Easy Stop are a pair of XX Harness Leather Split Reins #ASR3.
